Estimating Rubber Mulch for Playground Projects
1. Calculate your square footage - (length x width)
2. Determine your required fall height rating:
(A 4” installed depth protects up to a 9 foot fall height)
(A 6” installed depth protects over 7 feet up to a 15 foot fall height)
3. Multiply Square Feet by 9.3 for 4” or 14.0 for 6” of installed depth
4 .Divide that number by 2000 to determine how many tons of material you will need
Wood Playground Mulch/Chips
All wood chips are not created equally. Our product meets or exceeds the Consumer Product Safety Commission’s requirements for shock absorption and wheelchair accessibility. Our product has been impact tested at Penn State University, and tested for wheelchair accessibility at the Detroit Testing Lab. While no bedding product can guarantee an accident won’t happen and an injury might occur, wouldn’t you feel better about a product that has been tested and meets the CPSC requirements?

Don't Forget A Rubber Mat!
Also available are rubber mats for under swing sets. These mats are 1/2” or 3/4” thickness (4’x8’ in size). Lay mats under your swings and cover with rubber mulch or wood playground mulch/chips. Kids are always kicking mulch around, having a mat underneath is a great solution!
